Is The Suzuki Hyabusa The Fastest Bike in the World?
The Suzuki Hyabusa was first released in 1999 was once heralded as being the fastest motorcycle in the world. At 1340 cc, it is not hard to tell exactly why it held this prestigious title. It is not the only sports bike, however, that was in competition to be the fastest in the world and as of 2001, there are several others sports bikes which are in the same class. Interestingly enough, the name Hyabusa holds the basic meaning of Peregrine falcon, a bird that is well-known for its speed and which can, at times, reach speeds of well over 200 mph.
All of the competition in the various sports bikes did create a little bit of controversy, especially because of the dangers that are associated with this type of speed in a street bike. Government regulation eventually stepped in and caused the Suzuki Hyabusa, as well as several other high end sports bikes to slow themselves down to a certain extent. In the case of the Suzuki Hyabusa, the bike was retarded in the sixth gear, limiting the speed on the high end.
If you love great sports bikes, you no doubt have looked with interest upon the Suzuki Hyabusa but it does come with an impressive price. The 2008 model carries a price tag of around $12,000, a considerable amount for a street bike. Because of a love of speed and of this well put together machine, it has been quite a following throughout the areas in which it is sold.
