At 1340 cc, it is not hard to tell exactly why it held this prestigious title. It is not the only sports bike, however, that was in competition to be the fastest in the world and as of 2001, there are several others sports bikes which are in the same class. Interestingly enough, the name Hyabusa holds the basic meaning of Peregrine falcon, a bird that is well-known for its speed and which can, at times, reach speeds of well over 200 mph.
